PRACTICE AREA

Gary Nelson is a Cedar Rapids attorney who represents individuals who have suffered workplace and personal injuries. Mr. Nelson is admitted to practice in the Iowa State Court, the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois and the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.

EDUCATION

Mr. Nelson graduated from the University of Iowa in 1986 and received his law degree from the Southern Illinois University College of Law in 1991. He has additional study at the University of Iowa in Classical Languages and St. Paul's Theological Seminary.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

From 1991 to 2006 Mr. Nelson was an attorney in a Southern Illinois law firm where his areas of practice included workers' compensation, occupational diseases, State and Federal black lung claims. He is a licensed local Pastor in the United Methodist Church. He has also taught Latin at the collegiate and high school levels. He regularly speaks about workers’ rights under Iowa’s Workers’ Compensation Act.
