Occupational Lung Diseases and Injuries
Occupational workplace exposures or Injuries can also happen to your lungs as a result of exposures over a period of time or a onetime exposure. Many workers are exposed to a number of chemicals, fumes, and dust in the workplace. These exposures can include welding fumes, asbestos, paint fumes, chemicals, grain dust, coal dust, molds, and any other airborne irritants that are inhaled. These exposures can result in occupational asthma, shortness of breath, nausea, loss of consciousness, pulmonary collapse and even death. Treatments for these exposures may include medications, breathing treatments, and permanent removal from the exposure. Diagnostic tests may include pulmonary functions tests, arterial blood gas test, x-rays, and CT-Scans.
